In Norway, waffles are served as dessert, and are heart-shaped. I think they're rather tasty as breakfast also. 

These waffles are much richer and thicker than american waffles, and are very flavorful. I have made it low-fat and it turns out excellent, but the original recipe is very nice as well. 
they are cooked the same as regular waffles.

low fat version:
2 eggs
substitute sour cream with yogurt
1 1/4 Tsp. cardamom
honey instead of sugar for more flavor.
1 cup soymilk (using less eggs, it is more thick so adding the soymilk makes the batter more pliable)

top with: almond butter, applesauce, blackberries

original recipe:
6 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. ground cardamom
1 1/2 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
Pinch of salt
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup melted butter
3 Tbsp. butter for frying 


Mix eggs, sugar, and cardamom together in a big bowl. Add in flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix these ingredients and beat in sour cream and butter until the batter is smooth. Let the batter sit for about 20 minutes before you being making the waffles. Heat up the iron and brush some of the butter of the surface, you are now ready to make waffles.
